The trade seemed inevitable. The only piece that remained was who would be the team to be the Broncos’ dance partner.
On Tuesday, the Broncos sent Emmanuel Sanders and a 2020 fifth-round draft pick to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a third-round and a fourth-round pick next April. The trade was first reported by 9News.
The 32 year-old wide receiver has been with the Broncos since 2014 when he joined the team as a free agent after spending four seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In 78 games for Denver, Sanders racked up 5,361 yards and a total of 30 touchdowns (1 rushing, 1 passing).
Michael Spencer of CBS4 in Denver caught up with Sanders as he was leaving the Broncos practice facility on Tuesday afternoon.

“All good things come to an end,” Sanders told Spencer and other reporters while driving away. “I’m looking forward to getting out to [San Francisco] and showcasing my talent.”
The trade means that no offensive players from the Super Bowl 50 championship team remain on the Broncos’ roster.
The Broncos will now turn to 2018 second-round pick Courtland Sutton to be the team’s lead receiver while DaeSean Hamilton and others will expected to step up their roles.
The Broncos will travel to Indianapolis this Sunday to face the Colts. Kick off is set for 11:00am MT.
