The Colorado Rockies placed Rafael Betancourt in the 15-day disabled list on Monday, retroactive to June 7, per Patrick Saunders on Twitter. Betancourt has been struggling with a sinus infection for at least a week now. He was forced from an appearance against the Philladelphia Phillies on May 30 due to the the sinus infection. He was moved to the DL due to vertigo symptoms.
The club recalled David Hale from Triple-A Albuqurque in a corresponding move.

Betancourt was roughed up in both of his last two appearances — allowing nine hits and seven runs in just one and a third innings combined. The right-handed reliever blew a save opportunity and gave up a grand slam with a 3-run lead in the top of the ninth inning in a game the Rockies lost 9-8 to the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 2. His ERA has ballooned to 6.30 on the season with his recent struggles.
A freshly promoted Hale will be on the bump for the Rockies on Monday night when the host the St. Louis Cardinals. Hale has previously made two starts for the Rockies this season — both as the team’s 26th man during a doubleheader. The righty went at least six innings in both starts and is 1-0 with a 4.26 ERA at the MLB level this season. He is 0-2 with a 5.97 ERA in Triple-A this season.
Hale will lead the Rockies against the Cardinals at 20th and Blake starting at 6:40 tonight.
