The Denver Broncos are re-signing punt returner/wide receiver River Cracraft in order to fill the gap of WR Tim Patrick going on Injured Reserve due to a broken hand suffered in Monday’s defeat according to NFL’s Ian Rapoport.

Patrick will be out for at least 6-8 weeks as he will be eligible to practice in six weeks and can play in Week 9.
Cracraft was recently waived on Sept. 1 to bring in ex-CFL PR/WR Diontae Spencer.
Cracraft had been on the practice squad and active roster for the Broncos for the last couple of years as he was the team’s primary punt returner last year. Cracraft was with the team throughout the preseason and is familiar with the playbook.
He is the team’s sixth receiver to go along with Emmanuel Sanders, Courtland Sutton, DaeSean Hamilton, Juwann Winfree, and Spencer.
Denver’s been stricken with many injuries already this year. A calf injury kept Todd Davis out of the season-opener, while Jake Butt, Drew Lock and Theo Riddick are all on the IR as well as Patrick. And in the loss to the Raiders, right tackle Ja’Wuan James injured his left knee and we’re waiting to hear the results of the MRI.
Denver (0-1) hosts Chicago (0-1) this Sunday with a 2:25 p.m. MT kickoff. Vic Fangio looks to get his first head coaching win against his former team.
