The Denver Broncos released their official practice report and participation status following Wednesday’s official practice in Dove Valley. The Broncos are still awaiting word on the prognosis of outside linebacker Nik Bonitto.
Broncos top pass rusher misses Wednesday’s practice
Heading into Wednesday’s practice ahead of Denver’s Saturday matchup with the Detroit Lions, the team released an estimated participation status if they would have held a practice on Tuesday.
On Tuesday’s estimated report, outside linebacker Nik Bonitto did not participate. He was not spotted during Wednesday’s practice and was officially listed as a DNP.
Bonitto left Sunday’s win against the Los Angeles Chargers in the first quarter with a knee injury and did not return after being carted off. Broncos head coach Sean Payton told local media on his Monday conference call that he did not have an update on Denver’s top pass rusher.
Bonitto leads the Broncos in sacks this season with seven and leads the team with 11 tackles for a loss.
In the event Bonitto misses any time, the Broncos will more than likely proceed at outside linebacker with Baron Browning, Jonathon Cooper, rookie Drew Sanders, and Ronnie Perkins next up in Denver’s rotation.
Broncos official injury report from Wednesday
The following is the Broncos official injury report update from Wednesday’s practice.
Did Not Participate:
- Outside linebacker Nik Bonitto – knee.
- Safety P.J. Locke – neck.
- Running back Samaje Perine – knee/NIR – rest.
Limited Participation:
- Outside linebacker Jonathon Cooper – ankle.
Full Participation:
- Tight end Greg Dulcich – hamstring.

Locke was an estimated DNP for Tuesday’s practice and was not spotted on Wednesday. If he’s unable to go against the Lions, Delarrin Turner-Yell will more than likely receive the call to start opposite of Justin Simmons.
Perine was granted a veteran’s rest day on Wednesday, while Meinerz appears all set and ready to go after experiencing an irregular heartbeat in the team’s win against the Chargers last Sunday.
