The Los Angeles Rams are one of the best teams in the entire NFL, while the Broncos are lucky to still be in the game, trailing 13-3 at halftime.
To begin the game, Denver went three-and-out, and then despite some big plays by the Rams on their first drive, the Broncos defense was able to bend and not break, allowing a field goal for the 3-0 Rams lead.
The Broncos offense was able to earn one first down on their next drive, but then had to punt it away again. Luckily there was the Denver defense bending and allowing some big-play runs by Todd Gurley, and yet giving up another field goal, trailing 6-0 early.
Finally, Denver’s offense got it going and Case Keenum dropped a perfect pass into Emmanuel Sanders for a touchdown, but he was called down before the goal line. But, his unsportsmanlike penalty gave the Broncos the ball on the 16 yard line, and after three plays, they had to settle for a field goal of their own to bring the game to 6-3.
That was a huge momentum swinging play, which could’ve given the Broncos the lead but instead they still trailed.
Then, the Rams marched down — with the help of Todd Gurley — to score a touchdown of their own and push the lead to 13-3. Gurley looked unstoppable on that drive, including on his touchdown scamper, giving the superstar 10 touchdowns on the season.
Denver tried to answer themselves, but were unable to — with an erratic an inconsistent offense — going into halftime down 13-3. The Rams got another chance to score as the Broncos went for it and failed on 4th and 3, but the Broncos forced another punt.
Chad Kelly even entered the game for one play, but it was only because Chad Kelly was being evaluated for a concussion.
For the Broncos to win this game, they’ll have to figure out a way to slow down the deadly attack of Los Angeles, while also playing much more consistently on offense as well.
