It’s safe to say that, so long as Coach Prime is in Boulder, the Colorado Buffaloes will consistently have one of the nation’s most impressive crops of wide receiver and cornerback talent, and it’s easy to see why.
What elite perimeter player wouldn’t want to play for the one and only Deion Sanders?
That thought process continues to be emboldened by the number of talented — and sometimes, already-established — players who continue to choose the University of Colorado, over other blue-blood recruiting powers.

The latest chapter in that story is Xavier Weaver, a fifth-year senior who finishes his career with the USF Bulls as the program’s No. 6 all-time receiver in terms of receptions(116), No. 4 all-time receiver in terms of yards (1,735), and a member of the all-conference second-team, after originally being recruited as a 3-Star talent. He also holds the program’s fifth- and sixth-most-productive seasons ever, in terms of receiving yards in a single year.
Given his level of experience and production, it’s safe to assume that Weaver will be competing for a starting job this offseason, and even if he doesn’t win that role, he’ll still have a large presence for the Colorado Buffaloes on offense, making this a nice win for Coach Prime, and the latest in a series of many victories.
Weaver will join Jimmy Horn Jr., another member of the Bulls, who was one of Coach Prime’s first big transfers, once Colorado finally put pen to paper on him becoming their next head coach. Horn finished his final season with USF as a first-team member of the all-conference team and has already proven to be an excellent complement to Weaver.
With Weaver and Horn, the Colorado Buffaloes are adding USF’s top two receiving threats, who have both demonstrated a natural ability to stretch the field and create explosive plays — two traits the Buffs were desperate for more of during their 1-11 2022 campaign.
Thanks to this latest transfer commitment to the program, Coach Prime and Colorado have reclaimed their throne as 2022’s No. 1 transfer destination, per 247Sports, as they’ve landed one 5-Star, four 4-Stars, and now, 14 3-Stars, in just their transfer class.
As TCU proved just a season ago, don’t sleep on the immediate impact that these transfer players can wield.
