The Colorado Avalanche will play the Utah Mammoth in the NHL 2027 Winter Classic. The game will take place at the University of Utah’s Rice-Eccles Stadium on a date to be announced later.
“It’s an exciting game to play in. It’s an exciting game for fans and families to travel into. We’re playing a great opponent in a great city,” head coach Jared Bednar said. “It’s something that you can circle on your calendar and get up for and be excited about.”

It will be Cale Makar’s second outdoor game with the Avs. He participated in the 2021 NHL Outdoors game at Lake Tahoe. Martin Necas played in the 2023 Stadium Series when he was with the Carolina Hurricanes.
While it is exciting for players who have experienced at least one outdoor game to get another, it will be Sam Malinski’s first. And he could not be more excited.
