The 2021 MLS season is set to start Saturday, and the Colorado Rapids will throw down against FC Dallas to kick things off.
In preparation for the start of the 2021 tour, Colorado Rapids Executive Vice President and General Manager Padraig Smith joined the Denver Sports Betting radio show with Aniello Piro, Chase Howell and Ivan Buss.

“The club knows what it’s like to bring home the silverware (2010), but I think too much in recent time there is one season in the playoffs and two seasons out,” Smith said of the club. “That’s what we want to stop. We want to bring consistent and sustainable success to the club.”
The club will look to break that cycle this season. The Rapids managed to make the playoffs last year but were bounced in the first round. Fresh off a run to the postseason, many expect the club to build off its recent success.
“When it comes to expectations, you want to embrace them,” Smith said. “They are there for a reason. They are there because people are starting to expect good things from the team.”
As it stands, the Rapids are the 50/1 longshot to win the 2021 MLS Cup.
