The Denver Broncos offense needs to come out with more energy on Saturday’s practice as the NFL celebrates their Back Together Weekend across all 32 training camps. Fans who attended Friday’s first practice didn’t get to see what they were hoping for from the offense or the quarterbacks under center, but that could change today.

Denver Broncos Day 4 camp primer

Zach Wilson got the first quarterback reps of the afternoon during Day 3 of Denver Broncos training camp. Unfortunately, Wilson, Jarrett Stidham, and Bo Nix didn’t have the most productive day, as the offense felt pressure from Denver’s defense in the various team periods conducted. The offensive and defensive emphasis for Friday’s practice was third down, an area the offense struggled mightily in last season.

As the team gets ready to step back onto the practice field this morning for Day 4 of camp, we’ll be looking to see if the offense bounces back and comes out with more energy.

Defensively, the Broncos’ energy has been strong to start training camp with all three levels flying around. The defensive line and pass rush have generated consistent amounts of pressure, and linebackers, corners, and safeties have made plays on the ball in the passing game, creating tough windows for the QBs to generate completions.

One thing to monitor will be how the Broncos approach safety Brandon Jones and the hamstring injury he suffered that kept him out of practice yesterday in team drills. Devon Key and JL Skinner received more reps at safety, but with the injury to Jones and Denver’s approach with not rushing Caden Sterns back too quickly from his knee injury last year — could the safety depth become an issue, and could it prop the door open for a potential reunion with Justin Simmons?

Simmons is still living in Denver and has been training all offseason as he looks to land somewhere before the 2024 season begins. Broncos Country certainly wouldn’t be opposed, and neither would we.

The Denver Broncos will practice here this morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. MT.
