The Denver Broncos elevated two players from their practice squad to their gameday roster for Sunday’s showdown with the Carolina Panthers. Denver kicks things off this afternoon at home at 2:25 p.m. MT.
Denver Broncos elevate LB Kwon Alexander vs. Carolina Panthers
For the second consecutive week, the Denver Broncos have elevated practice squad linebacker Kwon Alexander to their gameday roster for kickoff this afternoon against the Carolina Panthers. Alexander was activated last week against the New Orleans Saints and recovered a fumble on linebacker Cody Barton’s strip-sack.
He’ll get the chance to be active once again this week and will likely rotate in at linebacker similar to how he did last Thursday night against the Saints. Alexander will play alongside Barton and Justin Strnad.
Calvin Throckmorton is the team’s second practice squad elevation to the gameday roster, and he’ll factor in as depth on the interior offensive line at center behind Alex Forsyth. Throckmorton has been a practice squad elevation since Luke Wattenberg was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury.
The good news surrounding Wattenberg is that he was spotted on the team’s side field this past week for the first time, and he could be back once his four-week IR stint is up.
It’s unlikely Throckmorton sees any snaps on Sunday, barring an injury, but he’ll be a good insurance policy to have, just in case.
Offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey is ready to go again, just one week removed from coming off of short-term injured reserve. He played last week in the Broncos win on the road against the Saints and is good to go for today’s game against the Panthers.
“I’m proud of how he rehabbed,” Broncos head coach Sean Payton said. “It was a lot of quiet hours before it gets really noisy, and what I mean is a lot of lonely times in the training room where he’s working to strengthen the knee. He was able to do that, and it’s a credit to him.”
Denver hosts the Panthers this afternoon as they aim to improve to 5-3.
