The Denver Broncos are making moves before Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts. Rather than letting him get to the free agency market, the Broncos are locking in long-standing left tackle Garett Bolles to a four-year contract extension.

Denver Broncos extend Garett Bolles on four-year deal

The first time this offseason that Garett Bolles had the chance to speak to the media, he made it very clear how he felt about the Mile High City. Bolles expressed his desire to stay in Denver and get an extension, and that’s what happened with him and the Denver Broncos on Thursday.

Bolles agreed to terms on a four-year extension that will keep him in Denver through 2028. 2024 was the final year of his contract, and he was set to become an unrestricted free agent, but now that he’s locked in, the Broncos can build around rookie quarterback Bo Nix.

It is a four-year, $82M deal with $41.9M in reported guarantees.

Bolles has only allowed one sack this season and has been consistently productive over the course of the last two seasons inside of Sean Payton’s offense. His story and journey have also been incredible.

After being drafted in the first round back in 2017, Bolles had a variety of ups and downs in the first part of his NFL career but found stability and developed into a productive starter under Mike Munchak. Each year, Bolles has progressed in pass protection and has been impactful as a run blocker, earning an extension back in 2020.

He announced the move on Thursday on his own social media page.

Bolles joins the company of players like Patrick Surtain II, Quinn Meinerz, and Jonathon Cooper to receive a contract extension this season, and from an organizational standpoint, the team is focused on building for the future with the core nucleus of players that Payton and general manager George Paton have identified as building blocks to the team’s future.
