The Denver Broncos have announced their inactive list for their final game of the 2022 NFL season against the Los Angeles Chargers including wide receivers Montrell Washington, Kendall Hinton and defensive tackle D.J. Jones. Who else is listed as inactive prior to Sunday’s kickoff?
Denver Broncos inactives vs. Los Angeles Chargers
For Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Denver Broncos will be without wide receiver Kendall Hinton, defensive tackle D.J. Jones, and offensive tackle Calvin Anderson who were ruled out initially on Friday afternoon due to injury.
Hinton has been a reliable asset for Denver on offense and special teams this season which makes his absence impactful for Sunday’s game. With Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy healthy and ready to go on Sunday, Brandon Johnson and Jalen Virgil will each get the chance to step up in Hinton’s absence.
Jones missed last week’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but players like Jonathan Harris, DeShawn Williams, and Eyioma Uwazurike stepped up in his absence along the defensive line. They will also be expected to continue to do the same on Sunday against the Chargers.
Anderson has missed the last three games for the Broncos after suffering an ankle injury prior to Denver facing the Los Angeles Rams on Christmas Day. After moving on from offensive line coach Butch Barry, it’s hard to tell whether or not Anderson would have received starting reps if his ankle was healthy as Denver approaches the off-season looking to evaluate all options regarding depth.
Other players listed as inactive prior to Sunday’s kickoff against the Los Angeles Chargers include rookie receiver and return option Montrell Washington who was listed as inactive for his second consecutive game since interim head coach Jerry Rosburg took over. It is currently unknown who will receive today’s reps returning punts and kicks with Washington and Hinton both being ruled out, but undrafted rookie Jalen Virgil could see his first duties of the season returning.
Rookie cornerback Damarri Mathis (concussion) is also inactive for Sunday’s game despite making progress through the NFL’s concussion protocol this week. Lamar Jackson is expected to start opposite Patrick Surtain this afternoon. Outside linebacker Jonathan Kongbo and quarterback Jarrett Guarantano round out the final two players who will be inactive on Sunday.
