The Denver Broncos offensive line has benefitted from continuity for the past three seasons, but after Ben Powers’ injury in Week 5, they overcame adversity and found success with Alex Palczewski filling in.

For Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Broncos are getting Powers back, but how much will he play?

Denver Broncos LG Ben Powers activated to 53-man roster

Ben Powers is back, at least on the active roster. After having surgery to repair a biceps tear after Denver’s Week 5 win against the Philadelphia Eagles, Powers has made his way back onto the active roster before the regular season ends, as first reported by 9News’ Mike Klis.

On Saturday, Powers was officially activated off of injured reserve and placed on the 53-man roster after being a full participant during Friday’s practice. He initially returned to practice two weeks ago, prompting his 21-day window to open.

Now, he’ll be on the active roster for Sunday’s game against the Jaguars, but it’s unclear whether or not he’ll play.

The reason this is up in the air is because Denver has a short week. They’ll play Sunday, then face a quick turnaround to be ready for Thursday’s Christmas Day game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

On Friday, Broncos head coach Sean Payton touched on Powers and the transition plan for him to be reintegrated back into the offense.

“Understand this, there’s always that transition period,” Payton said. “So we’re never going to throw someone in there for 65 [plays]. There’s that transition period for anyone who’s coming off an injury like that.”

That could mean he could be a gameday inactive and see action against KC or he could get some reps in tomorrow’s game.

If Powers is active on Sunday, Alex Palczewski would likely get reps as the eligible lineman in Denver’s jumbo packages, which would likely revert Frank Crum back to the inactive list.
