The Denver Broncos have lost another key member of their front office to the Las Vegas Raiders after Brian Stark accepted a job as their next assistant general manager.
Denver Broncos lose key front office member to Las Vegas Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders continue to poach the Denver Broncos front office. After former Broncos scout John Spytek left the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the GM job in Vegas this summer, he poached away Mark Thewes, who was the Broncos’ President of Football Operations and Compliance.
Spytek has now snagged Brian Stark away from Denver to be the Raiders’ next assistant general manager, as first reported by Albert Breer.
Stark, who was the Broncos’ Director of College Scouting, has been a key part of Denver’s front office staff over the course of his career, spending 13 seasons in the Mile High City. For the last eight seasons, he’s been the Director of College Scouting.
Before earning that promotion, Stark’s previous roles saw him as an area and national scout for the team. He and Spytek were on the Broncos’ staff together from 2013-2015 during the heightened years of Peyton Manning’s record-breaking season and ultimately the Super Bowl 50 team that saw widespread dominance from the No Fly Zone and that vaunted defense.
Stark’s departure serves as a big blow to general manager George Paton’s front office staff and scouting department, but it also presents opportunities for other scouts to move up and earn in-house promotions.
Nick Schiralli, who is the team’s Assistant Director of College Scouting, could be an in-house promotion. Some other names to keep an eye on are National scouts Sae Woon Jo, Bryan Chesin, and Eugene Armstrong.
Despite all of Denver’s front office losses this offseason that included Thewes, Darren Mougey, and now Stark, the Broncos didn’t run into any issues or interruptions in their NFL Draft process.
