The Denver Broncos were back on the practice field on Wednesday as they prepare for Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Denver was down one of their starters on the offensive line to start the week.

Denver Broncos OL Ben Powers misses Wednesday’s practice

Denver Broncos offensive lineman Ben Powers was spotted during the media viewing portion of practice on Wednesday heading out to the side field for practice instead of team stretch and individual period. Powers was spotted after Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons with a large pack of ice on his shoulder, and that’s what he was listed with on the official injury report.

This will be something to monitor throughout the week as the team gets ready for another AFC West showdown this Sunday when they travel to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders, who are struggling at 2-8. In the event Powers misses or is unable to go on Sunday, just glancing at Denver’s depth chart, keep an eye on Calvin Throckmorton and Alex Forsyth as potential options to fill in for him.

Another potential option to consider would be for Luke Wattenberg to slide over to the left guard and Forsyth to step in at the center spot. Last year, Wattenberg filled in for Quinn Meinerz at right guard against the Los Angeles Chargers and did a good job stepping into that role. Having this many options is a good problem for head coach Sean Payton, who has flexibility amongst the roster to move certain pieces around without tanking the chemistry of the position group.

Powers has been an excellent piece to the Broncos’ improved offensive line this year, that’s done a great job of holding up rookie quarterback Bo Nix, who just took home the honors of AFC Offensive Player of the Week following his Week 11 performance against the Atlanta Falcons.

Denver will be back at it on Thursday, and we’ll see if he upgrades from DNP to limited or full.
