Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix is continuing to elevate his case for the NFL’s Rookie of the Year award after taking home another valuable honor following his Week 12 performance against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix named NFL Rookie of the Week for third consecutive week
Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix continues to make franchise history, becoming the first player in team history to win Rookie of the Week for three straight weeks. Nix continues to make headlines during his rookie campaign despite a lot of the pundits questioning where he landed in the NFL Draft order. At the end of the day, none of that stuff matters to head coach Sean Payton, who has had confidence in the rookie signal caller since Day 1.

Against the Raiders on Sunday, Nix was 25-of-42 passing for 273 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He was responsible for 278 of the Broncos’ 325 yards against Vegas and elevated them in the second half.
Nix is setting himself up for another NFL Rookie of the Month award, too, considering how he’s performed in the month of November. He’s demonstrably more comfortable in the pocket and is even finding ways to create opportunities with his legs in the passing game.
“Sometimes there’s been some movement throws that are by design and then of course sometimes he’s climbed up in the pocket,” Payton said. “Early in the game—the first play of the game last week—was really more of a pocket play. Then he flushed and found a target so it would vary, but there are some designed movement throws too.”
There have been a lot of national pundits who haven’t been shy about their critiques of Bo, and some of them refuse to move on from their pre-draft evaluations of him, but one thing is very clear — he’s been a demonstrably different quarterback than what we saw the first few weeks of the season, and he’s doing it without the run game being a consistently effective part of the offense.
His growth has been very promising in the eyes of Broncos fans, who have expressed excitement about the possibility of the team finally finding a franchise QB, and there’s still so much more room for him to grow.
Enjoy these moments, Broncos Country, and don’t let detractors ruin your experience.
Happy Thanksgiving.
