After a rough game on Sunday, Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix is looking to bounce back this week on Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals. Rather than approaching things timidly after missing a couple of throws against the Chargers, Nix is still going to sling it, which is what you want to see and hear from your franchise quarterback.

Denver Broncos QB Bo Nix plans to keep throwing shots after Sunday’s loss

After Sunday’s game against the Chargers, every pundit with a keyboard was talking about overthrows and missed throws. When you go back on the film, of course, Nix’s passes didn’t land, but we’re talking a matter of an inch or two versus bad misses.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton had his quarterback’s back in his Monday Zoom call, and said that it’s important not to overcoach on throws like that, that Nix’s placement was in the right spot, and that he needs to keep slinging it.

Nix said that he’s going to keep throwing it with the belief that they’ll connect on plenty of those shots the remainder of the season.

“That’s the name of the game,” Nix said. “You just keep making the next play. You keep throwing it. You don’t want to be afraid of failure, don’t want to be afraid of missing. You just go out there and shoot the shot, and we’ll hit them.”

As the offense continues to try to establish its identity, Nix said the unit is still trying to find out who they are.

“I think when you look at our offseason acquisitions,” Nix said. “The guys that we got, we’re still trying to fit them into our scheme, find out where we are as a team, but we still have an identity upfront. They’re going to keep the guys off of me. We’re going to be able to not stay in long yards because of sacks. We’re going to complete passes. [WR] Courtland [Sutton] is going to have good games, and those other guys, as they continue to grow, they’re going to find their rhythm. I’m going to continue after just 20-something  games I’ve played, going to continue to get better and better, and see things well. We’re going to continue to find the rhythm and the plays that we like, the scheme that we want to fall back on. But it takes about three or four weeks each season. You’re always looking around unless you have the same exact team, with the same exact coaches. Even with an identity, it’s important to have, it’s important to use, and be able to fall back on that. But the defense also knows what you’re good at. So at the end of the day, you’re going to have to change a little bit year by year, game by game.”

Their start has been disappointing, but the offense didn’t start to get going until Week 4 of last season, and the hope is that it gets rolling on Monday Night Football against the Bengals.
