The Denver Broncos have made a couple of moves ahead of tomorrow’s legal negotiating period which begins at 10:00 a.m. MT. With Sunday serving up to be a wild day ahead of free agency, the Broncos’ only focus has been on in-house candidates.

Denver Broncos re-sign QB Jarrett Stidham to two-year deal

One of the biggest questions surrounding the Denver Broncos this offseason revolved around who would be backing up starting quarterback Bo Nix in 2025. That question has now been answered.

The Broncos re-signed QB Jarrett Stidham on Sunday to a two-year, $12M contract, with $7M of it being guaranteed.

ICYMI: Denver Broncos finalize 2025 coaching staff

Stidham has been an important behind-the-scenes piece for the Broncos quarterback room since arriving two offseasons ago. The Broncos internally believe Stidham is one of the more capable backup quarterbacks in the league and head coach Sean Payton values his playstyle.

Nothing is more important in Payton’s eyes than having a good backup quarterback in today’s NFL, and nobody knows his system more than Stidham. Denver would also like to retain Zach Wilson, but he’ll likely have a stronger free agency market than Stidham would have.

The Broncos have been pleased with their quarterback room from last year and would ultimately like to keep them together, especially with quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator Davis Webb having a big influence over the room.

Destinations like the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, and Seattle Seahawks are teams who have an immediate vacancy open for their quarterback position and Wilson could provide an immediate spark.

Broncos re-sign long-snapper Mitchell Fraboni

Mitchell Fraboni isn’t going anywhere this offseason either after he and the Broncos agreed to terms on a three-year deal worth $4.175M. Fraboni was a restricted free agent, but Denver wasn’t looking at paying the one-year tender.

He’s emerged as one of the league’s most consistent long-snappers and he’ll now remain in Denver for the next handful of years.

How will the Denver Broncos react to Sunday’s appetizer for NFL Free Agency?

A handful of NFL teams made some blockbuster moves on Sunday ahead of Monday’s legal negotiating period. Here’s what you may have missed.

  • Pittsburgh Steelers traded for former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf.
  • Cleveland Browns extended Myles Garrett on a $40M per year contract.
  • Buffalo Bills extended Josh Allen on a historic six-year, $330M deal with $250M guaranteed.
  • Kansas City Chiefs re-sign LB Nick Bolton on a three-year deal at $15M APY.
  • Los Angeles Rams sign WR Davante Adams to a two-year deal.

With the moves that occurred on Sunday, many in Broncos Country tweeted their frustrations about the lack of moves by the Broncos. The thing is, Denver could have only signed players who were released by other teams on Sunday or re-sign their own players.

Monday’s an entirely different ballgame, where they can negotiate and agree to terms with players who are hitting free agency beginning at 10:00 a.m. MT. While the Denver Broncos may have missed out on several players they may have had on their free agency wishlist, they’ll still be active.

I’d anticipate their biggest splash comes at the wide receiver position while they focus on adding a veteran safety.

Buckle up, Broncos Country. Things are about to get busy.
