The Denver Broncos have made a roster move to their practice squad on Tuesday, releasing one player and bringing in a former Miami Dolphins running back in light of the recent injury to Tyler Badie.
Denver Broncos sign former Dolphins RB Salvon Ahmed to practice squad
The Denver Broncos will be back on the practice field on Wednesday as they officially begin on-field preparation for Sunday’s home game against the Las Vegas Raiders. In light of the recent injury to Tyler Badie this past Sunday, the team made a roster move on Tuesday, adding former Miami Dolphins running back Salvon Ahmed to their practice squad.
Ahmed has appeared in 38 career regular season games, playing four seasons with the Miami Dolphins. During his time in Miami, he started in four of those 38 games, and had 163 carries for 593 yards (3.6 yards per attempt) and five career touchdowns.
To make room for Ahmed’s addition, the team released wide receiver Kaden Davis, who signed onto the practice squad a few weeks ago. As it currently stands, the Broncos running back room on the 53-man roster consists of Javonte Williams, Jaleel McLaughlin, Blake Watson, and Badie. It’s still up in the air right now what the official status for Badie is going forward, but a corresponding move could be coming.
“He didn’t come back with the team, but he came back commercially later in the evening,” Broncos head coach Sean Payton said. “We’re still evaluating him now. He’s doing better. Everyone that’s reached out, we appreciate the concerns. Fortunately, he was able to come back before the day ended.”
First and foremost, Badie’s health and safety is the top priority and we’re hoping that he’s okay and can return soon. Denver is evaluating their options and when the timeline for Badie becomes available, there will be more clarity on what direction the team heads. For now, Ahmed is an addition to the practice squad.
