The Denver Broncos have made several roster moves ahead of Saturday’s showdown against the Detroit Lions in primetime action.
Denver Broncos promote TE Lucas Krull to 53-man roster
As expected, the Denver Broncos have promoted athletic play-making tight end Lucas Krull to their 53-man roster. Krull took over the 53-man roster spot previously held by outside linebacker Ronnie Perkins, who was waived a few days ago.
Perkins re-signed to the team’s practice squad on Saturday.
Krull will be the team’s athletic pass-catching tight end option for Saturday’s game against the Detroit Lions tonight. Last week, Krull hauled in his first career regular-season catch that went for 35 yards from Russell Wilson.
His size and athleticism provide the Broncos offense with an element they don’t have at the tight end position. While Adam Trautman has been the main tight end option for Denver this season, Krull is more of a vertical threat and could be in line for more looks in tonight’s game.
This move was also expected after tight end Greg Dulcich was ruled out on Thursday after the team opened up his 21-day window from injured reserve.
Broncos elevate QB Ben DiNucci and NT Tyler Lancaster for tonight’s game
Prior to tonight’s game, the Broncos announced they had elevated quarterback Ben DiNucci and nose tackle Tyler Lancaster from the practice squad to the gameday roster.
DiNucci will not play tonight and will more than likely be a gameday inactive, but Broncos head coach Sean Payton has valued DiNucci’s presence and how he’s helped them in their preparation, specifically on the scout team.
Lancaster could be an option that sees time in the rotation this evening, especially with the Broncos looking to stop the two-headed rushing attack led by David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs.
The Broncos will kick things off against the Lions tonight at 6:15 p.m. MT on the NFL Network. Stay tuned 90 minutes before kickoff for the official list of gameday inactives for tonight’s game.
