After the Denver Broncos lost starting linebacker Jonas Griffith to an injury in Saturday’s preseason win against the Dallas Cowboys, they signed a veteran option to help add depth at the position.

Denver Broncos make roster moves on Monday
The Broncos will be without starting linebacker Jonas Griffith for an estimated 4-6 weeks after he dislocated his elbow in Saturday’s 17-7 win over the Cowboys.
With Griffith’s injury, the Broncos faced a need to bring in more depth at the position.
On Monday, the Broncos signed veteran linebacker Joe Schobert.
Schobert is a seven-year veteran who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers last season, appearing in 16 games and starting 15 games at inside backer.
The seventh-year player received a Pro Bowl nomination in 2017 while playing for the Cleveland Browns.
Previously, the Broncos had Schobert in for a visit several weeks ago, but no deal was agreed to.
Schobert will have to pick up the Broncos’ defensive scheme and terminology, and if he does, could work his way into an accelerated role quickly.
There is a possibility he competes for a roster spot, but will have to overtake Justin Strnad, Alex Singleton, Barrington Wade, and Kana’i Mauga.
Denver activates Randy Gregory and Billy Turner off the PUP list
The Broncos received some good news on the injury front, activating outside linebacker Randy Gregory and offensive tackle Billy Turner off of the physically unable to perform list.
Gregory has been climbing his way back after having offseason shoulder surgery, working on the side field for all of training camp.
The Broncos’ key offseason free agent acquisition is fully cleared but has been working on strengthening his shoulder, giving him the best chance to be ready for Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks.
He’s expected to be limited to position-specific drills and will begin to ramp things up to team drills at some point in the next few weeks.
On the offensive side of the ball, Turner makes his way back after having offseason arthroscopic knee surgery.
With his return to the field, he and Calvin Anderson are expected to compete for the starting job at right tackle.
Anderson has received a majority of the team reps all throughout training camp but could face a challenge with Turner’s return.
In a corresponding move, the Broncos also waived offensive guard Ben Braden under a waived/injured designation.
The Denver Broncos will have to trim their roster to 85 plays by Tuesday’s 4 PM ET deadline.
