The Denver Broncos are adding another wide receiver to their practice squad, with veteran Elijah Moore being signed there on Tuesday morning, as first reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
On Monday, Moore had an official visit with the team and signed this morning.
Moore spent nine games this season with the Buffalo Bills, where he had nine total catches for 112 yards. After signing Brandin Cooks last week, the Bills released Moore.
He has the potential to be used in the same way Marvin Mims has been used offensively, as a receiver and as a rusher on jet sweeps. Last season, Moore went off against the Broncos on Monday Night Football, hauling in eight catches on 14 targets for 111 yards.
The veteran receiver joins Denver after having spent time with the New York Jets, Cleveland, and Buffalo, where he has 2369 career all-purpose yards and 11 touchdowns.
As it currently stands, Moore joins Michael Bandy, A.T. Perry, and Kyrese Rowan as the wideouts on the practice squad. He has three practice to gameday roster elevations remaining with Denver after signing and could be used on special teams as well.
Denver’s active roster has five wide receivers — Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims, Troy Franklin, Pat Bryant, and Lil’Jordan Humphrey.
Moore will be on the practice field on Wednesday as the team prepares for the Las Vegas Raiders, and we’ll likely hear from Sean Payton what factored into adding him into the mix.
