The Denver Broncos are fully engulfed in game prep for Sunday’s AFC West matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers and for the first day of practice, tight end Evan Engram wasn’t spotted and linebacker Dre Greenlaw continues with his apparent ramp up from a quad injury.

Denver Broncos tight end Evan Engram not spotted during Wednesday’s practice

After injuring his calf in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans, Evan Engram was initially limited in practice last Wednesday before being a full participant on Thursday and Friday last week and playing in Sunday’s game against the Colts.

During today’s practice, he was not spotted during the media viewing portion of practice and was not on the side field.

We spotted linebacker Dre Greenlaw during the media viewing period, but he was not on the field with the team and moved over to the side field in an orange jersey, where he and Malcolm Roach were both working with the team’s training staff.

“We felt like he’s kind of on our schedule,” Payton said. “We spent time on it because it’s a little nebulous relative to the injury, and that’s all I’ll say.”

Engram was officially listed on the injury report with a back injury.

Tomorrow’s practice will be important to monitor regarding his and Greenlaw’s status. Justin Strnad was also not spotted during today’s practice and popped up on the injury report with a foot injury.

Aside from those three, everybody else was accounted for during the media viewing period, including fullback/tight end Nate Adkins, who was a full go.

Patrick Surtain II was spotted and appeared to be moving fine after having his ankle heavily taped during Sunday’s game against the Colts, and was not on the injury report.

Broncos injury report:

Full participation:

  • Outside linebacker Nik Bonitto – wrist.
  • Fullback/Tight end Nate Adkins – ankle.
  • Linebacker Alex Singleton – thumb.

Limited Participation:

  • Safety Talanoa Hufanga – chest.

Did Not Participate:

  • Linebacker Dre Greenlaw – quad.
  • Tight end Evan Engram – calf.
  • Linebacker Justin Strnad – foot.

Denver’s linebacker room is a bit thin if Greenlaw continues to miss and if Strnad misses any time.

The Broncos will be back at practice on Thursday.
