The Denver Broncos have made two roster moves today after they clinched the No. 1 overall seed in the AFC side of the NFL Playoffs. They now have one spot open on the 53-man roster.
Denver Broncos waive TE Marcedes Lewis and OT Geron Christian
Now that the NFL Playoffs are here, roster flexibility is one of the most important things to have going into the postseason. On Monday, the Denver Broncos waived veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis and offensive tackle Geron Christian.
That freed up two roster spots on the 53-man roster, but Denver promoted quarterback Sam Ehlinger to the active roster, which leaves one spot open.
With tight end Nate Adkins back in the lineup after a knee injury, the Broncos needed to create more roster space for their upcoming playoff run.
Because it’s this late in the season, any player that’s waived has to clear waivers, including players who are considered vested veterans.
If he clears waivers, the Broncos are expected to bring Lewis back to the practice squad.
Ehlinger has been an important behind-the-scenes piece for the Broncos and the quarterback room this season alongside Bo Nix, Jarrett Stidham, and Davis Webb.
