The Denver Broncos are in a great position from a roster standpoint after 10 weeks of the NFL season, as they look to close out these final seven games fully healthy. On Wednesday, the Broncos saw more good news on the injury front.

Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds returns to practice

Denver Broncos veteran wide receiver Josh Reynolds was back on the practice field for the first time on Wednesday after he underwent hand surgery and was the victim of a shooting several weeks ago.

Reynolds initially landed on injured reserve following the Broncos home win in Week 5 against the Las Vegas Raiders, where he hauled in a touchdown catch. On his touchdown reception, he injured his hand, which resulted in him having surgery and landing on short-term injured reserve.

While on injured reserve, Reynolds was the victim of a shooting where he thankfully only suffered minor injuries. He was back on the team’s side field just days after the event occurred, and the team has provided him with any support or resources necessary to help him.

He was back on the field for the first time on Wednesday since all of those events, which officially opens his 21-day window to return from IR.

The Broncos will have 21 days to move him from injured reserve to the active roster, or else he’ll revert back to IR and will remain there for the remainder of the season. There’s a strong chance the Broncos bring him back this week as the team prepares for their home matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, where he’d likely be slotted back into the number two receiver role next to Courtland Sutton.

This season, Reynolds has hauled in 12 catches for 183 yards and one touchdown in a limited sample size. The Broncos’ offense and rookie quarterback Bo Nix have been building more momentum over the course of the last handful of weeks, and Reynolds can serve as a security blanket option for him in key situations.

It will be interesting to see how the Broncos manage to maneuver their personnel at wide receiver if Reynolds returns on Sunday, considering the emergence of Devaughn Vele and Troy Franklin in the team’s rotation at receiver.
