The Denver Broncos have relied a lot on their crop of young wide receivers this season, and one of their most important emerging playmakers won’t be ready to go on Sunday when the team takes on the Green Bay Packers.
Denver Broncos WR Pat Bryant won’t play vs. Green Bay Packers
Pat Bryant has been one of the most exciting young players to watch emerge this season for Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos offense. Whether it’s in the run game as a blocker or making clutch catches to move the chains for a first down, Bryant has become an important piece to Denver’s offense.
His snap count has increased drastically over the course of the last five games. After suffering a hamstring injury in Thursday’s practice last week, Bryant still managed to play against the Las Vegas Raiders. Bryant managed to play the second-most snaps at wide receiver behind Courtland Sutton in Denver’s road win.
He won’t play this week against Green Bay, however, after missing all three days of practice.
Following Friday’s final practice of the week, Broncos head coach Sean Payton said Bryant didn’t re-tweak the injury against the Raiders and that the team is trying to be smart with handling the injury, with Denver having four remaining regular-season games.
“No,” Payton said. “Listen, it’s hard to describe. It’s attached to the hamstring. We feel like if this was a playoff game, in other words, he’d be able to go and yet, in order to get him back to full strength, we feel like we’ve done the right thing this week.”
What this means for the Broncos’ wide receiver group for Sunday’s game is that Sutton, Troy Franklin, Lil’Jordan Humphrey, and Marvin Mims will see more reps or snaps collectively. Another possibility for Denver would be elevating either A.T. Perry or Elijah Moore as gameday elevations for Sunday’s game.
We’ll see if Bryant returns to the mix next week.
