On Monday, the NCAA granted tight end Mitch Parsons immediate eligibility to play college football with the Colorado State Rams in 2015. For Colorado State first-year coach Mike Bobo, this is big news heading into the final three months of preparation before the season kicks off on Sept. 5th.
Parsons, a 6-foot-4, 245-pound tight end graduated high school from Chaparral High School in Parker, Colo. As a senior, Parsons caught 45 passes for 754 yards and seven touchdowns. After consideration from Arizona State, California and Mississippi, Parsons chose Vanderbilt to play football, where he redshirted last year.
Due to Parsons using his redshirt year, he will be a sophomore at CSU this fall, after practicing with the Rams this spring. The former No. 2 overall high school player in the state of Colorado in 2013 and the No. 7 tight end nationally will be looked upon to help the CSU rams immediately as depth at the tight end position has been a concern for the upcoming season.
Parsons expressed tremendous joy on Twitter after hearing the decision by the NCAA to reverse his appeal. After a long process, Parsons sounds grateful and ready to play football back in his home state.
