If you follow Colorado State Rams head coach Mike Bobo on Twitter, you know he loves to fish.

This weekend, Bobo landed a big one in Demarre Kitt, a former Clemson wide receiver, who announced his commitment to CSU on social media.

Kitt, originally from suburban Atlanta, was a four-star wideout when he came out of high school in 2014. As a true freshman, he announced in December of 2014 he would be transferring away from Clemson, where a bevy of receivers ahead of him seemed to block the path to playing time. As a freshman he caught only five passes for 47 yards.

He transferred to multiple community colleges, including Highland Community College most recently and will be immediately eligible to play in 2017.

Last year, Colorado State’s receiving corps featured Rashard Higgins and Joe Hansley. With their departures, a void in established, veteran receivers was evident when the Rams began the 2016 season. Michael Gallup has stepped into a leading role, but there’s still much desired in terms of depth and playmakers at the position. And, according to his HUDL page, Kitt runs a 4.47 40-yard dash: His speed is needed at CSU.

For Bobo, it’s another addition from the south — specifically, Georgia — who comes to Colorado State. The south has long been a hotbed for talented high school and college football players, and this year’s team points to that talent.

Collin Hill (South Carolina) played sensationally in five games this year as a true freshman before injuring his ACL. Marvin Kinsey (Georgia) rushed for two touchdowns last week in CSU’s win over UNLV and currently has 197 yards on the year. Gallup, a junior transfer originally from Georgia, is Colorado State’s leading receiver this year with 479 yards and four scores on the season.

Gallup wasn’t upset with the Kritt commitment, either, knowing the two could become a dynamic duo for CSU next year.

The only question is: Will it be Hill or Nick Stevens throwing Kitt, Gallup and the other receivers the ball in 2017, the Rams first season in their new Sonny Lubick Field at the On-Campus Stadium?

Or, will it be the new quarterback, Ryan Glover, tossing the pigskin to Kritt?

With 14 commitments so far, Bobo’s done well to reload with athletic youngsters, nine of them from the south.
