Check out my weekly wagers for free at Denversportsbetting.com. Another week on the PGA brings us the Genesis Invitational, played at the Riviera Country Club in California.

This course has tradition and many prominent players who have hoisted the trophy here, as well as the PGA debut for Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus. The simple fact that Tiger Woods will be in attendance and teeing it up on Thursday will most definitely bring in more attention, coverage, and wagers throughout the week. Other names besides Tiger who have been on a tear here throughout their career here’s a few.

Bubba Watson: Watson won 3 tournaments held here in the last 6 years. Easy to say he likes this event and course, he seems to be in his happy place walking around Riviera.

Justin Thomas: JT has back to back Top 10s here including a 2nd last year and a T-9 the year before that. Thomas may be the hottest hand on tour finding himself in contention nearly week in and week out in the 2020 season.

Dustin Johnson: DJ finally won here in 2017 after losing in a playoff in 2015. DJ can bomb the golf ball off the tee, and if his approach game and putting are present this week he will be at or near the first page of the leaderboard.

JB Holmes: Holmes will be defending his crown after squeaking by Justin Thomas last year thanks to his great ball striking. Besides JB Holmes (2019) and James Hahn (2015) this course is notorious for crowning some of the biggest names in golf. However, these two past champions show that on any given Sunday any player who catches fire with the putter can come out on top.

Kevin Na: Na has been quietly having a killer stretch on tour Winning 2 of his last 13 tournaments. He can find fairways and is one of the best short game players on tour.

Course layout: The grass on the greens at Riviera are much like most of the other western courses with Po-ana so these guys should be familiar with the flat-stick. The rest of the course, on the other hand, has been taken over by Kikuyu grass.

This indicates we will be looking for someone who plays out of the fairway as Kikuyu has a tendency to play a lot harder from the rough which becomes spongy and creates questionable lies. Fairways will be premium.

The distance here is all hidden playing at only 7300 yards. The one drivable par 4 (10) And the two very reachable par fives (1 and 11) will play easier than the rest of the par fours and threes which will force long iron shots in the green. We will be searching for players who can shorten these more difficult holes and have more birdie chances.

Riding the hot hand will be a very interesting strategy this week, however, course history always seems to squeak its way into the conversation here at the historic Riviera CC. Find
