We finally know which Denver Bronco will be crowned the team’s first “Mr. Irrelevant” – Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly.
He is a well-known college quarterback. Kelly, who is also a rapper on the side, is the nephew of NFL great Jim Kelly. He won the 2016 Sugar Bowl with the Rebels and passed for more than 4,000 yards that season, his junior year. Kelly was injured toward the end of his senior season, but still managed to throw for more than 2,700 yards and 19 touchdowns against just eight interceptions.
There are some off-field issues with Kelly, who played for three different schools in his college career. He was dismissed from the Clemson football team early in his career for conduct detrimental to the team. In 2014, he got into a fight with bouncers outside of a Buffalo bar. The charges were dropped to disorderly conduct, to which he pled guilty and completed 50 community service hours. He was also involved in an altercation at a family member’s high school football game in 2016.
Kelly will enter camp as the Broncos’ third quarterback behind Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch.
