The Buffs shot an astounding 62 percent from 3-point range in a 90-53 season-opening win over Sacramento State. Okay, technically, the Buffaloes shot 61.9 percent from 3-point range, but it’s hard to squabble over a tenth of a percentage point when you shoot 13-of-21 from beyond the arc.
Seven different Buffaloes connected from deep, led by junior guard Dom Collier who was 4-for-6 from 3-point range to lead the team with 12 points off the bench. Lucas Siewert was 3-for-3 and Josh Fortune was 2-for-2 from long range.
It was the complete effort head coach Tad Boyle wanted from his team to open the season. Ten different Buffaloes scored and they held the Hornets to less than 30 percent shooting on the night.
The Buffs cruised to the win, although they will need to cut down on turnovers as their season advances; they committed 10 in the game. Colorado hosts Seattle on Monday to open the Legends Classic.
