Coming off a five-game homestand in which they were swept, 0-4-1, the Colorado Avalanche were in Nashville on Tuesday night hoping to extend a Predators home losing streak. Nashville had lost two games in a row on home ice for the first time all season. Seven combined goals later, Colorado’s losing streak is now at six games, falling 4-3.
Matt Duchene scored twice on the power play in the second period, but a two-man advantage to Nashville to start the third proved to be the difference in the game. Roman Josi scored the game-winner 1:04 into the third and Colorado could not capitalize on its own two-man advantage (6-on-4) in the closing minutes.
Colorado held Nashville, who ranks sixth in the NHL on the power play, to just 1-for-5 on the advantage, but it was the Josi goal a 3-on-5 that decided things. P.K Subban and Viktor Arvidsson each tallied a goal for Nashville in the win. Nathan MacKinnon opened the scoring for Colorado in the first period.
Colorado remains at 19 points with the loss, last in the NHL. They are in Boston on Thursday to continue a four-game eastern road trip.
