The Walters State Senators needed a bounce back game after losing the night before to North West Florida State 10-7. Their top of the lineup bats had to be big in order to stay alive in the tournament to play for a national championship. Chattahoochee Valley also trying to stay alive for a shot at the national championship.
The Senators bats in the top of the lineup came up big propelling Walters State to a 14-6 win. Colie Curie, Ramon Osuna, and Ross Grosvenor, 2-3-4 in the lineup, all put in big games vs. the Pirates. Curie goes 2/5 three runs batted in and a home run. Osuna goes 3/4 five runs batted in and a 2-run home run, tourney leading third home run. Grosvenor goes 3/3 two runs batted in and a solo-homerun, tourney tieing third home run for him. For the Pirates Will Campbell goes 2/3 three runs batted in. The Pirates unfortunately didn’t have the fire-power to stay with Walters State, only having one big inning offensively in the fourth scoring four runs. Where Walters St. got huge innings throughout the game offensively.
The 14-6 win for Walters State keeps them alive in the tournament having a chance still to win it all. Walters State plays the loser between McLennan Community College and North West Florida State. The 14-6 loss sends Chattahoochee Valley Community College home, finishing in the top four. The Pirates final record for 2015 is 43-17.
