The Avalanche’s atrocious road trip went about as bad as it possibly could have.
All the good vibes the team had built going into the All-Star break were seemingly washed away in six less-than-stellar games in 11 days. Colorado came away with just three of a possible 14 points following Thursday’s 6-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Their efforts, mixed with a red-hot Dallas Stars team, has the Avalanche out of first place in the Central and needing another solid streak to regain the top spot in the division. The Avalanche were 13-3-1 in their last 17 games heading into the break. They have more losses in the last week and a half than they did in that stretch.
Aarif Deen looks back at the road trip, which ended with a 6-3 loss in Tampa Bay. He shares his thoughts on what the 1-4-1 trip should do to the Avs’ plans for the March 8 trade deadline. All that and more on this quick post-game edition of Hockey Mountain High: Your go-to Avalanche Podcast.
