All answers regarding the NFL Draft and what the Denver Broncos will do with the No. 5 pick overall will be answered tonight. But not only that, the University of Colorado and Colorado State hopefuls will be awaiting their name to be called over the weekend as well.

Justin Michael, editor at Mile High Sports joined Danny Williams and Benny Bash of Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7 to discuss his thoughts on who the Broncos will select with the No. 5 pick and where former CSU Ram wide receiver, Michael Gallup, will land in the draft.

Michael believes Minkah Fitzpatrick will land with the Broncos at No. 5 overall saying, “There aren’t many guys like him out there, he’s a once in a generation type talent and a guy that can come in and make an immediate impact.”

University of Alabama defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick is a consensus top ten player in the 2018 draft. Michael’s states that “he’s the most versatile defensive back in this class.”

“He’s physical at the line of scrimmage, he can line up and play press in the corner, he can go out and play safety, there aren’t a lot of guys like him out there.”

Over his three year career, Fitzpatrick has proven his versatility with 171 total tackles, nine interceptions, four forced fumbles, 24 passes defended, and five sacks.

Very solid numbers for a defense that’s stacked with a variety of talent every year. Fitzpatrick is the kind of player who will instantly change your defense and make them more dominant the second he sets foot on the field. Without a doubt Fitzpatrick would be a great addition to bolster the Broncos defense the big question is if they would pass up the opportunity to draft a franchise quarterback or a much needed offensive lineman, Quenton Nelson.

While Fitzpatrick is certainly an option for the Broncos, another name with more local ties to Colorado is Michael Gallup of Colorado State.

In his two year career with the CSU Rams, he led the Rams in receiving yards and touchdowns. Gallup has nice speed, size, and strength (6’1” 200lb) to match up with the best defensive backs in the league and has proven to have sure hands as well.

“He’s extremely versatile, just a freak athlete, he’s going to make an NFL team extremely happy.” If Gallup gets lost in the shadows, it might make sense for the Broncos to take a look at keeping the CSU alumni in-state to give the Broncos a solidified third wide receiver option next season.
