In the vaunted Gary Kubiak rushing attack, the No. 1 running back must be versatile and durable, characteristics Montee Ball believes he has. Kubiak has come out to say that C.J. Anderson has those attributes. He’s suggested the same about Ronnie Hillman. CSU fans would say that Kapri Bibbs is the embodiment of that kind of back.
And so, as the competition heats up for the coveted No. 1 spot, Mile High Sports AM 1340 radio host Eric Goodman went straight to one of the men at the center, Ball, for his insight on how that struggle looks from the inside. It’s complicated, suggests Ball.
“Off the field,” Ball says, “it’s most definitely friendly. We’re the ones in the meeting – because we sit next to our running backs coach, Eric Studesville – and we’re watching tape, we’re coaching each other… We’re most definitely helping each other. But on the field it’s a competition.”
Ball continued to say that the competition is high in the running backs room and right now everyone looks good and is progressing well from the first day of camp. Listen to the full interview with Ball, as well as Goodman and Zach Fogg’s assessment of the running back competition, below.
