On Friday, former Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball was sentenced to 60 days in jail and 18 months probation after pleading guilty to two charges of disorderly conduct and one charge of battery.
Ball, who was waived by the Broncos prior to the 2015 regular season, has had a few run-ins with the law in the last few months. He was arrested in February after allegedly throwing his girlfriend through a table in a Madison, Wisconsin hotel room, and again in April for felony bail jumping while drinking alcohol.
He was also charged with strangulation and suffocation, and substantial battery, two more felonies, in March after a girlfriend from a previous relationship told police Ball assaulted her in 2014.
Ball, who is currently undergoing an alcohol counseling program, must abstain from using alcohol, and cannot be present at an establishment that primarily serves alcohol. He is also not allowed to have contact with either of the female victims in each case.
The Broncos selected Ball in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft after a stellar career at the University of Wisconsin. After being released by the Broncos prior to the 2015 season, the New England Patriots signed ball to their practice squad in December, where he would finish the season. The Patriots released Ball four days after his first arrest in April 2016.
