The Denver Broncos were already going to be in a good position going into the 2025 NFL league year with plenty of flexibility in salary cap space. Now, they’ll have an even larger cushion as the league announced it’s expected cap range that is working toward being finalized.

NFL salary cap expecting big increase in 2025

With NFL Free Agency inching closer, the Denver Broncos and a handful of other teams will have their salary cap cushions extended when the new league year begins on March 12th at 4:00 p.m. ET.

ESPN’s Dan Graziano first broke the news today that the NFL informed teams that the salary cap per team this year will range between $277.5M to $281.5M. This is a significant increase from last year’s $255.4M cap.

The cap has not been officially finalized yet but the massive increase should benefit teams like the Broncos or the New England Patriots, who entered the offseason with the most anticipated cap space. Negotiations between the NFL and the NFLPA will continue to be ongoing before things get finalized, but clubs have been informed that the range will be around $277M or $281M.

Prior to this new number coming out, the Broncos were estimated to have around $37.3M in cap space, according to Spotrac.

Even with that number, the Broncos have plenty of wiggle room to have a measured approach or be aggressive if that’s what they feel will allow them to make a deeper post-season run this year.

To summarize some of the Broncos top offseason needs, they’ll have to look at re-signing D.J. Jones, extending Zach Allen and Nik Bonitto while also upgrading several positions.

According to OverTheCap, based on the estimated projections, that should leave the Broncos with around $41.7M in cap space. Once the league and the NFLPA both finalize an agreement, the Broncos official cap number should be confirmed and that will give us more insight on how Denver could attack free agency.
