The University of Northern Colorado men’s basketball team has had a phenomenal year–finishing the season with a record of 21-10. On Tuesday, the Big Sky Conference, recognized UNC’s success by honoring the Bears with a plethora of individual accolades.
After averaging a league-high 23.8 points per game, senior guard Jordan Davis was named the Men’s Player of the Year and was also the lone unanimous member on the Big Sky First Team. The veteran was one of the nation’s most successful scorers this season as he ranked in the top-10 throughout.
Along With Davis’ recognition, Jonah Radenbaugh was named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year for the second time in his career, and Bodie Hume was tabbed the Freshman of the Year.
Finally, Northern Colorado head coach Jeff Linder, was honored as the league’s Coach of the Year. Under Linder’s guidance, the Bears won its first-ever postseason tournament in 2018 and UNC carried that success into the 2018-19 campaign with a program record 15 conference victories.
Since the conference started recognizing the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2001-02, this is just the third time a team has claimed the player, coach, defensive and freshman of the year awards in one season.
UNC is the No. 2 seed in the My Place Big Sky Championships and will start play Thursday against the winner of Southern Utah and Idaho State.
