The Colorado Buffaloes (5-4, 2-4) defeated the California Golden Bears (4-5, 1-5) on Satuday, 44-28. It was huge win for CU who is now just one shy of bowl eligibility in 2017.
Following an “open competition” at quarterback in practice this week, it was redshirt-sophomore Steven Montez who got the start for the ninth consecutive time. It was clear that the message Head Coach Mike MacIntyre was attempting to send, was received loud and clear. He completed 20 of his 26 attempts, totaling 347 yards and 3 TDs. Montez added a score on the ground and along with senior tailback Phil Lindsay, helped set the Buffs in the right direction.
Lindsay surpassed his per game averages and was handed the ball 33 times, for 161 yards. The combination of Montez and Lindsay led in their best performance of 2017.
The Buffs next face the Arizona State Sun Devils (4-4, 3-2) this coming Saturday, November 4th in Tempe.
