Best stat of the night

The Broncos offense stepped up in several categories Sunday. They nearly doubled their 30th-ranked rushing average of 85 yards a game with 160. Also, they were 50 percent on third downs (6 of 12) and were 2-for-3 in the red zone, which is drastically better than their 29th-ranked 37.5 percent season average. According to Manning, their offensive success Sunday could be contributed to their execution.

“We had some good calls tonight. We had some good play calls, had some options and some things that we could do and that I could get to. Like I said, you can have a great play call and have a great audible, but if you don’t execute, it doesn’t come to fruition. Our execution was, I thought, what was sound tonight. In really all phases of the run game and then the pass game, as well.”

Worst stat of the night

Penalties once again could have really hurt the Broncos in a closer game. They were penalized 11 times for 93 yards to the Packers two penalties for only 15 yards. The talent on defense has truly masked some inherent problems with discipline and hopefully they can continue to work on the only glaring deficiency this team showed versus the Packers.

The Broncos will travel to the Indianapolis Colts and try to avenge their January playoff loss. The Colts (3-4) have yet to play their Week 8 game. They take on the undefeated Carolina Panthers on Monday Night Football. The Colts struggled in their first few games but have found some offensive success as of late. Defensively, they are porous and if the Broncos continue to show balance, as they did Sunday night, they will have a lot of opportunities in Lucas Oil Stadium Sunday.

The 7-0 Broncos appear to have turned a corner Sunday night. They ran the ball well, looked sharp through the air and continued to shut down another opposing offense. The team’s performance showed, for the first time, that the Broncos can be the threat they believed themselves to be since this summer. The big win came at the right time as they embark on a very difficult schedule in November.
