As reported by Kelly Lyell of the Ft. Collins Coloradoan, CSU men’s basketball player Gian Louis Clavell-Lopez has been suspended from the team following an arrest by campus police for alleged harassment and false imprisonment, with a domestic violence enhancement.
“We are aware of an incident on campus Thursday involving men’s basketball student-athlete Gian Clavell,” the CSU athletic department said in the news release. “We take matters of this type very seriously, and head coach Larry Eustachy has suspended him from all organized team activities while we gather more information. We are following all university protocols and will be prepared to take further action when appropriate.”
Clavell, a 22-year-old senior guard from Puerto Rico, played in 33 games for the Rams in 2014-15, averaging 24.6 minutes per game. His 9.2 points per game were fourth best on the team last year.
Clavell was a 2012-13 Sporting News preseason All-American at Northwest Technical College in Goodland, Kan. where he played two years before transferring to CSU prior to the 2014-15 season.
