If you were to tell me at the beginning of this baseball season that at the end of July the Colorado Rockies would be less than six games out of a playoff spot, I would have laughed out of pity.
However, the insanity has become reality, as on the 29th of July the Colorado Rockies are still in the playoff picture.
Mile High Sports radio host Eric Goodman told it how it is.
#Rockies win again… Only 2 games under .500, 5 1/2 out of wildcard. This quietly becoming a really good story.

A good story indeed, as manager Walt Weiss has preached all season long that this year’s team is much different than in years past.
The Rockies are winners of their previous two series, and are now looking to win the season series against the defending National League Champion New York Mets.
The Mets series is important because they are ahead of Colorado in the National League Wild Card race.
The Rockies are 3-1 so far on their brutal 17 game stretch against playoff caliber teams. All they need to do is tread water and come out of the stretch with a winning record and they will be right back in the thick of the playoff hunt.
An important date to keep in mind is August 1, the trade deadline. If the Rockies truly believe they can contend for a postseason spot this year they could become active in trade talks to help bolster their roster for the homestretch.
Things are going to get interesting to say the least, so grab your popcorn Rockies fans.
