The traveling portion of the Colorado Rockies’ 2016 campaign came to a disappointing end on Thursday as Jon Gray suffered his 10th loss on the season and took a line drive to the leg in a 7-2 loss to the Giants in San Francisco. Colorado closed out their road record at 33-48 and their record within the NL West at 35-41. Postgame Gray said he does not expect any short or long-term impact from the line drive that caused him to leave the game in the sixth inning after allowing five runs (four earned).
Nolan Arenado delivered his Major League-leading 131st RBI, while DJ LeMahieu remained on the bench for a second straight game. LeMahieu is battling Daniel Murphy for the NL batting crown and currently sits just .002 points ahead of Murphy, who has just one at-bat in the last seven days himself.
The Rockies are back in Colorado on Friday to start their final series of the year, a three-game set against the Brewers. Chad Bettis will go for a team-best 14th win in his final start of the season.
