I usually hate when people say “google ________,” but I’m telling you to go and google Trevor Story. (You know him as the record-setting rookie Rockies shortstop.) Just search “Trevor Story.”
If you’re like me, your internet browser will return something akin to this:
The oddity is, of course, in the upper right-hand side of the screen, where Google’s search results are displaying the biographical information of another member of the Rockies organization, Rosell Herrera. The 23-year-old from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic was signed by Colorado as an undrafted free agent in 2009 and is currently playing centerfield for the Hartford Yard Goats. He played in the 2014 Futures Game, but is not considered one of the Rockies’ top 30 prospects.
Story, meanwhile, is lighting Major League Baseball on fire, hitting four home runs in his first three games in the big leagues. Story split time last year between Double-A New Britain and Triple-A Albuquerque, but made the major league roster after an outstanding spring training and with a big assist from Jose Reyes, who remains suspended (with pay) by commissioner Rob Manfred.
The wunderkind is already causing fans to skip right over “forgetting about” Reyes and casting their “we don’t need you” ire at former Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki. Rockies fans may be ready to forget about Tulo, but Google, it seems, doesn’t have such a short memory.

Herrera will no doubt take the extra attention Story is garnering him. As a career .273 hitter in the minors, he can use any help possible getting noticed by the MLB powers that be – even via Google’s errant search results.
