Whenever the Denver Nuggets seemingly take a couple steps forward, they’ve also taken a couple steps back soon after.

That was a sentiment shared by Nikola Jokic after Denver’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The very next night, the Nuggets defeated the Detroit Pistons, and Jamal Murray shared that the sentiment of early season inconsistencies was completely foolish in his mind. He cited that this was always how he’s been, that Nuggets fans and media are fans and media for a reason, and that he and the players are still perfectly confident in their abilities come April, May, and June.

That’s all well and good, but the Nugget are 17-13, a stone’s throw from 0.500 on the season. Perhaps Murray showing some consistency these past couple weeks is a sign that he and the Nuggets are ready to stabilize.

Nuggets fans can only hope.

On the latest episode of Pickaxe and Roll, Ryan Blackburn discusses the small renaissance of Jamal Murray over the last few weeks, what the numbers say, and whether the Nuggets can officially say he’s back or not.

Ryan discusses the lineup choice to start Russell Westbrook over Peyton Watson and what that says about the team, and then previews Nuggets vs Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City tonight.
