It’s, admittedly, a bit of a slow weekend in the Colorado sports scene.
The hype of the Rocky Mountain Showdown is gone and CU has a bit of a downer game before playing Oregon next week in what should be a raucous atmosphere.
CSU can still have a special season, but two overtimes losses have completely ruled out any big time aspirations for a very good football team.
The Broncos game is still huge (it’s a Broncos game, duh), but the Lions look like they’re on their way to a very down year and with kickoff not until Sunday night that means your weekend is essentially over the second the clock hits zero.
But not to fear it’s still a football weekend in September and football weekends in September should never be taken for granted. Think about how much you would have killed for one of these back in April!
With that in mind here are the three games that matter most this weekend in the Colorado sports scene.
No. 3 — CSU at UTSA 5:00 p.m. (Saturday)

The Rams are double digit favorites against UTSA (0-3) but are coming off those two heartbreaking OT losses mentioned above. Now that adversity has struck how will Mike Bobo’s club respond? This is a game on paper they should cruise in; how they perform Saturday says a lot about the character of this team.
