University of Colorado basketball coach Tad Boyle needs the support of the Buffs community. Boyle, a Colorado native, is one of 48 NCAA Division I basketball coaches participating in the “Infiniti Coaches’ Charity Challenge.”
Voting is underway, and fans are encouraged to go visit the contest webpage and vote for their favorite candidate. One vote per day is permitted. First round voting ends on Sunday, Jan. 24 and Boyle currently sits in 16th place among 48 coaches.
The challenge encourages fans to vote for their favorite coach and help raise money for the coach’s charity of choice. Boyle is supporting Special Olympics Colorado.
Special Olympics Colorado provides year-round training and competition in 22 sports for 19,600+ athletes living in the state of Colorado. With the support of more than 9,000 volunteers and the generosity of Colorado citizens, Special Olympics Colorado is able to offer more than 100 events annually to individuals with intellectual disabilities age 2 and up.
While only one coach will be able to win the full $100,000 prize, Infiniti has promised at least $1,000 to Boyle’s cause and the amount is set to increase the longer he remains in the contest.
Boyle has long been an avid supporter of Colorado basketball and athletics. After playing Basketball for the University of Kansas under Head Coach Larry Brown, Boyle returned to Colorado and coached high school basketball for the first six years of his coaching career.
He returned to Colorado in 2006 to coach the University of Northern Colorado, and accepted the position of head coach for the Buffs in April of 2010.
Buff’s fans are encouraged to visit the webpage and vote for Coach Boyle. First round voting will conclude Jan. 24, and half of the field will move to the next round. Voting will take place over a total of four rounds. The winner of the $100,000 prize will be announced 13 March.
