The Colorado Avalanche won Game 1 of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Los Angeles Kings, thanks in part to goaltender Scott Wedgewood.
“I thought he was fantastic. Yeah, did everything he needed to do. Obviously, bigger stakes, more emotion, but played the exact same way that he’s been playing for us all year,” head coach Jared Bednar said.

Artturi Lehkonen got the Avs on the board first. Logan O’Connor scored his first of the season to win the game.
The Avs were consistent with their game and have set that as a main focus for the series.
“That’s what you need in the playoffs. Obviously, every player’s got to have it every single shift, every single line. I felt like tonight we just kept rolling over and over,” Cale Makar said. “We knew it was going to come at some point, and we just stuck with it, didn’t get too ahead of ourselves, and got a couple, so it was good.”
