Shane Ray has made it clear that he intends to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year award, but that task may prove to be more difficult than the Broncos’ first-overall draft pick and 2014 SEC Defensive Player of the Year might think.
Josh Dover and Adam Kinney, hosts of the BSN Sports Desk on Mile High Sports AM 1340, tackled that question Thursday as the Broncos practiced at Dove Valley.
The biggest obstacle, according to Kinney, that Shane Ray faces is the two All-Pros he has in front of him already on the depth chart. Sure, DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller are the best possible mentors Ray could hope for. But their very presence could be the reason he falls short in pursuit of his goal.
